Deuteronomy 18:9-12- [9] When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. [10] There shall not bee found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, [11] Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. [12] For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations, the  LORD thy God doth drive them from before thee.

I decided to write this when I got to thinking about how many people I know, personally, that used to be very much into these kind of things and/or still are.

Throughout the Bible, we find God warning His people to not take part of any pagan practices of lands that they go into.  In the passage above, we find titles of pagans of which today, we call psychics, mediums, astrologers, palm readers, fortune tellers, you name them.  You can see in this passage that the occult is nothing new, you can see it was around during Moses, time, and I’m sure it was around before then.  I am quite positive that there was a lot of it going on when God decided to flood the earth in Genesis 6.

With a scriptural study of the term “witchcraft” in the Bible, you will conclude that it means to seek guidance, help, predictions of future, etc. from any spiritual source other than God’s Holy Spirit.  You will see the term “consulter with familiar spirits” in the Bible passage above.  A familiar spirit is any spirit other than The Holy Spirit.  If it is any other spirit than The Holy Spirit, then it is a satanic sprit.  “Spiritual” talk, without even mentioning Jesus or the Bible once is very common nowadays.  You will hear talk of all these “spiritual energies” and “spiritual realms.”  If ANYONE ever tries giving you any spiritual advice that is not of God’s Holy Spirit, then you need to get away from that person IMMEDIATELY.  They are consulting with evil spirits of Satan.

All of the above practices named in Deuteronomy 18:9-12 are practices of witchcraft.  Today, these people have taken on more watered down terms to make it sound a bit less satanic (psychic, medium, etc.) and has become VERY popular among the younger generations over the past century.

People will often go and see a medium after a close friend or family member has died just to attempt to have communication with them.  A “medium” is someone who claims to hold communication with “departed spirits” (remember God’s Holy Spirit vs. an evil spirit).  This is exactly what the Bible calls a necromancer.  There is NOTHING in scripture that even comes close to suggesting that we have any ability to communicate with the dead, or that the dead can communicate with us, and as a matter of fact, there is a passage in scripture that will refute that ideology.

Luke 16:27-28- [27] Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: [28] For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

The man in hell, in that passage, wants his brothers to be aware of the eternal torment by one being sent to them.  He could not have any contact with them himself, wherefore he was asking for a messenger to be sent to them.  The idea that people who died before you can give you signs is totally unbiblical.  Nothing in scripture shows us that we will still have contact with those alive on earth.  Whether you’re in heaven or hell.

Relating this back to necromancers (mediums), they will often tell you after their “connection” with the “departed spirit,” what the person is saying or that the person is going to give you a sign and will often be very specific, and their prediction of what will happen, really does happen.  I know people who experienced it. However, we know that it is not a sign from the passed loved one, since we know that after our physical death, there will be no contact with people still alive on earth, but these “mediums” and “psychics” are often correct.

Earlier in this article, I explained that these people use witchcraft, meaning they get knowledge from a spirit that is not God’s Holy Spirit, therefore it comes from an evil spirit of Satan.  I believe that these so called “departed spirits” that these people are talking to, are actually evil spirits working through them, and giving them such knowledge to deceive people into thinking that we will be “ghosts” wandering the earth talking to people, and giving signs to people, or that we will have some form of communication with people still alive on earth.  I also believe, that these people will often put a “spell” (so to speak) through these satanic spirits if their prediction is about an “incident” that is supposed to repeatedly happen.

I know people who have experienced this, and it is my prayer that these “spells” that they are under are destroyed by our Holy God.  If you have told me of any experience, then I have prayed specifically for you over this.  The signs you are given are from an evil spirts and not your passed loved one.

I even believe that many of these necromancers are devout Satanists wanting to work with his evil spirits specifically to deceive people like this, and will one day RIGHTFULLY suffer dearly in the lake of fire with their father Satan and the rest of the eternally damned.

It is likely, that anyone who practices the witchcraft mentioned in this article, will despise me for exposing them and try casting a “spell” on me to harm me.  Maybe the evil spirits that they consult with will make them aware of me, and maybe even the ones that people I know have visited with, will give them false “warnings” about me that I will do harm to their life, and I pray that none of my friends are deceived by these evil people over that.  To the ones that want to cast a “spell” of harm against me, then I will tell you yourself will fail to do harm to my soul.  It is covered in the blood of The Lord Jesus Christ, whom you are ABSOLUTELY NO MATCH AGAINST.  I am not afraid of you.

Psalm 23:4- Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and they staff they comfort me.

If any evil spirit you consult with will cause trouble in my life, it is only because God allowed it to take place in order to test my faith.  You have no authority over Him.  I struggle through stages of depression from time to time, God pulls me out of every episode, and I know He would do it again, so my advice, don’t even waste your time trying.

In the name of The Lord Jesus Christ I write unto all.  Amen.

Billy Graham- Wicked False Deciever

If this is your first time visiting this site, please click here

I  CLAIM NO OWNERSHIP OF THE FEATURED PHOTO

Billy Graham, has become one of the most popular televangelists of the time, with a very heavy following.  Many professing Christians have blindly followed this man as an evangelical hero, I have seen some Christians whom I believe are saved that haven’t so much followed him, but have quoted him, having been decieved by Satan into not really knowing what an evil false prophet Billy is.  One thing I want to clear up first, I do believe it is possible for a saved person to be decieved into believing an unsaved person is saved, because Satan is doing everything he can to stop them from being exposed. Satan will try to stop our evangelistic efforts at all costs.  Therefore, if I see a saved brother or sister quote Billy Graham, I am not going to accuse them of not really being saved, because all it means is that this wicked, false prophet hasn’t been fully exposed to the person.

GRAHAM LOVES CATHOLICISM

To begin the exposing of this man, I would say the featured picture of this article are enough to expose him, but I will still go further, because we are told in 2 Peter 2:1 that there will be false teachers among us and I want to expose them to the best of my ability.  Regarding the above photo, Billy Graham thought very highly of Pope John Paul II.  We know that Roman Catholicism is of the devil, with their works based salvation (most of which are works made up by the church and not even in the Bible, including excessive idol worship).
In the June 26th, 1979 issue of “The Star” there was an article which read “In this exclusive interview, evangelist Billy Graham hails pope John Paul II’s pilgrimage to Portland as a triumph for Christianity.  Dr. Graham and other religious leaders also heap praise on the pontiff for helping to push the religious revival worldwide.”

That should say it all.  Billy Graham supports an ecumenical movement which includes catholicism.  Anybody with an understanding of the Bible knows that catholicism has never taken anyone to heaven, therefore a massive catholic revival would result in more souls being damned.  To end this section of the article, following are more quotes by Graham regarding this matter.

“I do believe that something happens at the baptism of an infant… we cannot fully understand the mysteries of God, but I believe that a miracle can happen in these children so that they are regenerated, that is, MADE CHRISTIAN, THROUGH INFANT BAPTISM.”

“I admired Pope John tremendously … I felt he brought a new era to the world. It is my hope that the Cardinals elect a new Pope who will follow the same line as John. It would be a great tragedy if they chose a man who reacted against John” (2/2/63 Michigan City News-Dispatch; 6/8/63 Chicago Tribune).

“Finally, the way of salvation has not changed. I know how the ending of the book will be. The Gospel that built this school (catholic school) and the Gospel that brings me here tonight is still the way to salvation” (“Belmont Abbey Confers Honorary Degree,” (The Gastonia Gazette Nov. 22, 1967)

“The visit of Pope John Paul II to the United States is an event of great significance not only for Roman Catholics, but for all Americans as well as the world. In the short time he has been the Pope, John Paul II has become the moral leader of the world. My prayers and the prayers of countless other Protestants will be with him as he makes his journey” (Religious New Service dispatch; New Neutralism II, p. 40).

GRAHAM’S UNBIBLICAL VIEW OF HELL

“I think people have a hard time believing God is going to allow people to burn in literal fire forever. I think the fire that is mentioned in the Bible is a burning thirst for God that can never be quenched.” (The Orlando Sentinel, 1983)

There you have it.  Billy Graham is one of those preachers that will water down the doctrine of eternal hellfire and blasphemously saying it is a desire for God.  Unfortunately Graham is ignorant of the word TORMENT in the descriptions of hell.  Even in his preferred perverted version there are references to pain.

Billy Graham believes that the above is the “future hell” as he believes there are “at least three kinds of hell. ” He believes the first hell is  “hell in the heart” which he believes is the sinfullness of mankind, and “hell in society” which he believes is the wickedness of secular society.  To sum up what Graham believes about hell, he believes it is not a literal place, but rather believes it is a state of the heart, and unfortunately, there are many people who believe this wicked doctrine.

GRAHAM’S JUSTIFICATION FOR WICKEDNESS

At one of  his crusdades in San Francsco, Billy proudly stated “Whatever your background, whatever your sexual orientation, we welcome you tonight” he also snapped at a news reporter earlier for his suspision of them trying to get him to criticize the sodomites in which he said “I have many gay friends, and we remain friends.”  Graham is also the founder of “Christianity Today” which has links to pro homosexual websites for teens curious about their orientation.  Billy calls God a liar when he says “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.”  Graham also said on Larry King’s show that sodomy is in people’s genes.  This is slanderous blasphemy that makes makes God the author of sin.  This is an evil heresy.

When Bill Clinton was having an affair with Monica Lewinsky, Graham said “The man just can’t help himself…Clinton is handsome and virile, and the girls are just wild over him.”  According to Graham, being handsome and having girls go crazy over you is justifiable for yielding to temptations of the flesh.  Ol’ Billy boy is once again calling God a liar.

Hebrews 13:4- Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

GRAHAM SAYS UNBELIEVERS CAN BE SAVED

In a television interview on May 31st, 1997, Graham said these words.

“Well, Christianity and being a true believer–you know, I think there’s the Body of Christ. This comes from all the Christian groups around the world, outside the Christian groups. I think everybody that loves Christ, or knows Christ, whether they’re conscious of it or not, they’re members of the Body of Christ. And I don’t think that we’re going to see a great sweeping revival, that will turn the whole world to Christ at any time. I think James answered that, the Apostle James in the first council in Jerusalem, when he said that God’s purpose for this age is to call out a people for His name. And that’s what God is doing today, He’s calling people out of the world for His name, whether they come from the Muslim world, or the Buddhist world, or the Christian world or the non-believing world, they are members of the Body of Christ because they’ve been called by God. They may not even know the name of Jesus but they know in their hearts that they need something that they don’t have, and they turn to the only light that they have, and I think that they are saved, and that they’re going to be with us in heaven.””

You see Graham is preaching a very odd form of Calvinism here.  Calvinism is a heresy in the first place which comes from misquoting passages such as Romans 8 and 9, but at least most Calvinists’ I have known of say you aren’t one of God’s unconditionally elected (heresy by the way) unless you are a believer.   Graham is saying that God will just pick and choose them without them even hearing the Gospel or ever even knowing Christ.  Once again, he is calling God a liar.

John 8:24- I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he , ye shall die in your sins.

CONCLUSION

There are insiders from the freemasons’ that say Billy Graham is one of them.  Even if he wasn’t, his massive support for a worldwide ecumenical movement should be enough of an exposure that he works for the New World Order.  Graham has attended many meetings for the World Council of Churches and has made his endorsement of them public as well as  Romman Catholicism.. He has done a vast amount of work for bringing out a one world church with his support of a  worldwide revival of a mixture of all sorts of religious ideologies, saying that there is no right or wrong  religion, which is extremely unbiblical.

Ephesians 4:4-6- [4] There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; [5] One Lord, one faith, one baptism, [6] One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

In the name of The Lord Jesus Christ I write unto you.  Amen.

How To Help Someone Battling Depression

If this is your first time visiting this site, please click here.

As someone who has battled seasons of crippling depression on and off for many years, I wanted to share some advice, based on my experience, how you can help someone going through such a difficult phase, with some important do’s and don’ts

I want to start off with the absolute worst thing you could possibly do, that is to shame or guilt the person.  It should be common sense that this is an extremely cruel thing to do, but this does happen.  I have experienced this.  I have had things said to me like “why do you always look like a depressed bum” and “why do you always look so f***ing sad?”  I have had many things said to me, including people close to me, that drove me even deeper into my depression.  I was going through a phase at one point where I was making intentional self-cuts on my forearm/wrist.  I was caught one time, by a group of people around my age, doing it in a public place.  They reported it, though I begged them not to, but they had to do it for my safety.  One person I am associated with who will remain nameless for this said “that is going to be all f***ing over.”  This person was embarrassed by it, and just accused me a play acting later forcing me to show my wrists saying “knock it the f*** off.”  I had people who saw my cuts when I wasn’t wearing a bandage hold my wrist up for everyone to see.  One person, who was just a nasty person in general, mockingly said “don’t pick on him guys, he might kill himself, or at least try to again.”  All of the shaming that some people have given me hurt badly, so let my testimony of that be a tool for you.

Something you really need to do is be patient with the person, and let their condition run its course.  Depression is a come and go condition in most cases, and sometimes, their are only certain people they may want to talk to.  Also listen to the person often without even replying until they are finished.  Just let them get out what they are bottling up inside.  Show deep interest in what they are saying.  Use encouraging words with them such as “I’m here for you” and “I care about you.”  Going back to the event of the group catching me cut myself, the first person to notice it (I won’t release her name for the sake of her privacy) shockingly asked “why are you cutting yourself?  Stop doing that!”  That was enough to make me throw the safety pin away from me.  After a few minutes of conversation from the shocked individuals of the group, some of them not knowing what to do, they left, and took the pin with them to ensure my safety.  I then went out and found them a few minutes later, begging them not to say a word to anybody, as I was afraid I would be sent back to the psych unit at the hospital. One person said “your secret is safe with me” another said something along the lines of “how would you get help if you keep it to yourself?”  The girl that actually stopped me, was just glaring at me with a worried look on her face.  You know from earlier in this article, that they had reported it.  The next day, I noticed a message sent to me on Facebook by the girl that stopped me.  I still, to this day, have this message saved. She said “if you ever need anybody to talk to I’m always here.”  I replied back “Thanks, I just don’t see any reasons for living anymore.”  She then replied “What happened last night?” to which I replied “A whole bunch of stuff on my mind.”  She then said “Like what?  You can talk to me about this.”  I didn’t say anything back to her after that, but the fact that she reached out to check on me and make sure I was ok.  That, to this day, means so much to me, and I think well of her over that.  Let that be a tool for you.  Sometimes just assuring the person that you are there for them can be very helpful.

Something else, that you should avoid, is try to give advice saying why you think they are depressed.  You have no idea, and they will more than likely recoil your opinion.  Also stay positive, and don’t let their depression get you down.  They need someone supportive, not someone to be sad WITH.

Something else that can be very helpful is to invite them to do things with you.  Being secluded is often what we want, but that can be very dangerous.  Something you could invite them to do with you are acts of service, so they can feel worth more, and make sure you let them know their worth.

Last but most certainly not least, pray for the person, and even pray with them.  Even offer to lead them in prayer.  Also let them KNOW you are praying for them.

This list is far from complete , but these pieces of advice will hopefully be very helpful to you if you ever come across someone in this condition.  It is my prayer.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Oldpaths Critic Church’s Youth Pastor Arrested For Child Molesting

1 Corinthians 10:12- Wherefore let him that think he standeth take heed lest he fall.

Rotten hypocrites.

Do Right Christians

Dr. James A., PhD.

New Bridge Church of Lawrenceville, Georgia,  has been openly critical of the IFB churches (independent fundamental Baptists) with many of their followers constantly criticizing adherents of the Twitter #Oldpaths trend. New Bridge has a similar format and creed as that of IFB critic, Christian Farris of Next Level “ministries”. These groups of IFB critics are always quick to point out the sins of Jack Schaap and other IFB who have been charged with sex crimes, as a grounds for discrediting the entire IFB environment.

On December 28, 2016, the youth pastor of New Bridge Church, Nicholas Kelley, was arrested for child molestation.

Although their lead pastor, Jeff Lyle, denies being a Calvinist or Arminian, his defense of Calvinist doctrines is typical of the type of “neutral” pastors these days that disguise their closet-Calvinism in nuance.

So apparently, sexual abuse of children occurs among the…

Two Extremely Common Misconceptions of Satan

If this is your first time visiting this site, please click here.

Satan, since he rebelled and fell from heaven, has been wandering around the earth deceiving whom he is able to.  Satan told the first lie ever told in Genesis 3.

Genesis 3:1-6- [1] Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the  LORD Go had made.  And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? [2] And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: [3] But of the fruit of the tree which is in the mist of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. [4] And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: [5] For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. [6] And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, an it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took the fruit thereof, and did it, and gave also unto her husband with her, and he did eat.

“Ye shall not surely die” was the first lie ever told. The manipulative tempting that Satan gave to Eve in the garden was just enough to sow a seed of doubt in her which made her give into the lust of her eyes and eat the forbidden fruit.  The lie he told was so bold, and went into such detail in tempting them by mixing the truth with such a bold and detailed lie.  It was so manipulative, that you can guarantee physicians today would label someone who pulled something like this a sociopath.  Every bit of misery to ever exist in the world, is the result of on five word lie “ye shall not surely die.”  Lying has NEVER been a victimless crime.

Satan has been deceiving people ever since, and today, has almost all professing Christians deceived with two common and dangerous misconceptions of him.

Misconception 1- Satan is the ruler of hell tormenting the damned with his demons.

This has often been depicted by Hollywood and even some Christian film productions.  We even see this as far back as the ancient Roman comedian Dante with “the 9 circles of hell.”  This is not biblical and is the work of popular fiction.  Satan is not the ruler of hell and as a matter of fact, hasn’t even been there yet.  The Bible teaches that Satan is wandering about the earth right now deceiving people as said earlier in this article.

Job 1: 7- And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou?  Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and walking up and down it.

I have no idea where this false teaching first started, I have seen Christians quote Matthew 10:28 to support this doctrine, but I highly doubt that is where it started.  I will quote the verse anyway an explain it to you.

Matthew 10:28- And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

People will quote that verse, and say that it is talking about Satan, but there is a problem with this interpretation.  Hell is a place where the lost will suffer the wrath of God for eternity, and was actually created for the Satan and his fallen angels to be destroyed in.

Matthew 25:41- Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Revelation 20:10- And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Eternal fire was prepared for Satan and his fallen angels, where they will be cast into right before the great white throne judgment (which is what I quoted from Matthew 25) to suffer the wrath of God for eternity.  Therefore Satan can not be the one tormenting people in hell.  The wrath of God is what torments people in hell.

To avoid confusion on this subject, I feel it is necessary to explain the difference between hell and the lake of fire.  Both places are places of eternal torment in flames.  However, hell is where the eternally damned are at now, and where the unsaved will go at this current age of the biblical timeline when they die.  The lake of fire is where people already in hell and unsaved people that were alive up until the vials of God’s wrath falls upon the earth.

Revelation 20: 14-15- [14] And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.  This is the second death. [15] And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

These are events that will happen during end times, and that is a huge subject that will go way off topic from this article.  I recommend this if you want to go into a more in depth study of end times.

Misconception 2- The appearance of Satan

This refutation will be much shorter than the first one, but many people think of Satan as an evil, red guy with horns like a bull carrying a pitchfork with triangle blades.  This is also the work of popular fiction.  However, not everyone thinks he looks like this.  There are some people who think that they will know for sure if the see Satan thinking he would be in an evil appearance.

However, we know that Satan’s goal is to deceive the world, so why would he come in his evil appearance?  People would know and say “you’re the devil, I am not listening to you.”  There is an easy answer for that.  Satan will not come to you in an evil appearance.  Consider the following.

2 Corinthians 11:14- And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

Satan will substitute good for evil, and evil for good.  That is what makes this misconception so dangerous, because if you think Satan will come to you in his evil appearance, then how will you recognize him when he comes to you as an angel of light? This is exactly what he did to Eve in the garden of Eden.  He went to her as one who wanted to help her gain knowledge.

People, Satan is the father of lies and the most manipulative liar that will have ever existed.  Be not deceived by his boldness.  In the name of The Lord Jesus Christ I write unto you.  Amen.

Faith Without Works

If this is your first time visiting this site, please click here.

James 2:17-18, 20-21, 24- [17] Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. [18] Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. [20] But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? [21] Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? [24] Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

The verses that I posted are among the most misquoted verses in the Bible.  James 2 is one of the favorited chapters used by people who will teach a works based salvation.  That being said, let us take a look at a couple of other parts of scripture.

Romans 4:3, 5- [3] For what saith the scripture?  Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. [5] But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Ephesians 5:8-9- [8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and not of yourselves: It is the gift of God: [9] Not of works lest any man should boast.

If James 2 is saying we are justified by works, but the other verses I posted say that justification for salvation has nothing to do with works, there can only be on meaning.  The justification in James 2, is not talking about justification for salvation.  Let’s look into a further study to see what James 2 really means.

Going back to Romans 4, we see Paul using Abraham as an example just as James did.  Paul is directly referring to Genesis 15:6 which reads “And he (Abraham) believed in the LORD, and he counted it to him for righteousness.”  This is the moment when Abraham became born again.  Not later on where Abraham was going to sacrifice Isaac upon the altar in Genesis 22:8-10 which is what James was referring to.  The difference between the two, is that Paul was talking about the ROOT of Abraham’s faith, while James is talking about the FRUIT of Abraham’s faith.  The event on the altar took place years after Abraham got saved.

James is saying that if someone is saved by their faith, then they should be producing fruit of good works to show to people that s/he is saved backing up their testimony.  It is the same context as what Jesus was saying in Matthew 5:16 below.

Matthew 5:16- Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Saying that you need to produce works to get salvation or to keep salvation is a lie.  There are sometimes when a saved Christian will have a backslide in which they are producing no works.  I am not saying that is okay, because it isn’t.  Faith without works is dead in the same manner that a car without a battery is dead.  It’s still a car, it just won’t get you anywhere in your pass through this world.  That being said, stay zealous my brothers and sisters in Christ in whose name I write unto you in.  Amen.

Why I’m No Fan of Contemporary Music

If this is your first time visiting this site, click here.

1 John 2:15-16- Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but of the world.

Many people know that based on my fundamentalism, that I love the old hymns.  Some of my favorites include Great Is Thy Faithfulness, At The Cross, To God Be The Glory, Leaning On The Everlasting Arms, Glory To His Name, Saved By The Blood, Sweet Hour of Prayer, and many more (I have quite a list).

Many churches today, will toss out that Spirit filled Gospel music and replace it with fleshly, worldly, contemporary music (eg. the Newsboys).  As a matter of fact, many people even take the old hymns that I like and add a contemporary beat to them.  There is a well known “pastor” named Rick Warren whom is the pastor of Saddleback Church which is the 8th largest “church” in the United States.  Warren is the author of a book titled “The Purpose Driven Life” in which he writes in page 66 “There is no such thing as ‘Christian’ music; there are only Christian lyrics. It is the words that make a song sacred, not the tune.”

While I do agree that doctrinally sound words make the song sacred, I do not like the idea of adding a contemporary/rock n roll beat to the song.  It gets people dancing, waving their arms, you know much of the things you see at rap/rock concerts.  Moments like that lift up your flesh.  It is not spiritual.

The main purpose of the contemporary movement (becoming popular around the 1980’s) was to make the church more appealing to worldly people, which is far from the purpose of the church.  Considering the first verse, worldliness is usually a trait of non-Christians.  I am not saying that everyone who is worldly is unsaved, there are many of what the Bible calls “carnal Christians.”  However, Christians should not want to live up to the fleshly desires of the world, and that is much of what you see in contemporary churches.  In Galatians 5, there is a list of the works of the flesh.  I will post them and bold the ones that relate best to contemporary music.

Galatians 5:19-21- Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

To my brothers/sisters in Christ, our music should not be worldly, but should glorify God.  We should not be adding characteristics of non-Christians to our music.  In the name of The Lord Jesus Christ I write unto you.  Amen.
